Day 12, Monday 21st October

Well, being Monday, a girl needs to attend to the chores, so am sitting in humid laundry room doing what’s necessary.  Thank goodness Japanese chap came to do his, as neededhelp to know what to do. Am holding my breath as don’t know what temperature or spin speed etc...oh it’s playing a tune....it has finished so now for the dryer. Have pressed same colour buttons and it is doing something! Haven’t put trousers in as fear they will shrink. As they are already tight that would be disaster number 3!

Haven’t confessed to Paul yet, so this will tell me if he reads the blog!!

Went to put toothbrush on charge today....searched everywhere for charger....then I remembered I had put it in the drawer.  Only problem is the drawer I put it in is in Iga!! Talk about an idiot, I certainly felt one when had to ask at reception to ring to see if they had got it.  This went better than my camera and all the bits in the drawer should arrive tomorrow!

After that little upset, I finally left the hotel only to return less than 5 minutes later for a jacket! Off again and started to follow hotel man’s directions ....he said go left at the lights.....decided I had better check Google maps and just as well! Had to go right not left, although maybe all Japanese think your hand are the other way round because you are a foreigner!!

Had a lovely walk and glad it was cooler, although still humid. Walked to Kanazawa castle grounds and loved the style of garden, all be it small. It is in a little hollow so lends itself to interesting photography but really you need that special something. It is called light! Today was very cloudy and a photographer’s nightmare! Still, it might be raining for the rest of the week so got to try!

After the gardens walked around the castle but didn’t go in.  Think I did that last time, but I find most castles here to be much the same inside!  Next it was a return trip to the wonderful Kenroku-en gardens.....these are the ones that Monty Don visited, for all you tv watchers!  Had a lovely time wandering around looking for good photos, snapping up kimono clad folks along the way. Several couples this time when previously it had all been young women.  Fashion update....latest style is for kimono to be a few inches above the ankle with a contrast pleated but, or frill of lace showing below.

Also saw some interesting obi arrangements!

Part way around the gardens is the Museum of traditional crafts. I enjoyed this visit as much as that of 3years ago.  The special exhibition was called Chuki Chuki and was a display of ? Many more than 100 yubiniki.  Brilliant!

I asked about workshops but they hadn’t got much on offer. After some discussion I opted to do a simple Mizuhiki sample.  Paper string art to the uninitiated! My result is good and colour order maintained.  Watch out Ann and Isabel, this could be a little shared project!

By the time I exited the museum, the light had gone all together, so walked back home to the hotel, stopping on the way for a wander around Tokyo Hands ...big shop for all sorts of little gadgets and stationery.

Popped into shop to restore lemonade supplies then home for a well earned rest, oh and some hot chicken slices and a beef and potato croquet, washed down with a much needed cuppa!

NB: Had an  ice cream at gardens, yummy and I managed to resist the one with gold leaf as it cost 1000yen...ie about £7.50!

So that is the dialogue, I will now try and add photos....they may be mixed up but if so use your imagination! Remember I am always on the look out for something different/unusual or just down
right odd!  Here Goes!

This looks like a retrograde step....maybe there is to be a special event and more facilities needed?
