Tsunami alert on the news....

Breakfast position....Tsunami was not where I am...can't make out if it has happened or a huge risk. Levels being reported of 7.3m, but this might not be at coast level....The area affected is from Tokyo level upwards all of the east side of Honshu to the top, with the central area of this stretch most affected.  Am going to get breakfast and will ask the staff so can tell you more.  Just shows that sign I saw in Beppu was a real warning of the dangers.  Can hear odd town names mentioned and the screen has a list of times and what must be water or tide levels and they are going up...1.40 m in several places and two with 3m.....The problem is that so many places are flat and you can imagine the devastation that could be wreaked on these cosastal areas.

Will keep you posted!

Night time update.....after talking to various people to try and understnd what had gone on, the concensus was that this time it was nothing to write home about!  I spoke at length with a couple in the gardens and they said that living in Japan, Tsunamis are very common....normally not much more than a big tidal wave, not like we imagine from hearing the word Tsunami!  The  wife went on to say that  when you live here you aso have to contend with earthquakes and volcanic eruptions too!

Just showing updates on th news and the level was onl about 1.4 meters.....lots of clips wih sirens going of and pople hanging about looking at the sea and wondring what was afoot!
 Panic over!
